Market Resolution

What Happens When a Market Resolves

When a market reaches its resolution date or condition:

  1. The outcome is determined (either YES or NO)

  2. The market is closed for further trading

Resolution Process for Different Market Types

Cryptocurrency Markets (Solana-based tokens only)

  • Resolution is based on verifiable price or market cap data for Solana-based tokens.

  • Data is sourced from reliable Solana-focused price oracles and data aggregators.

  • Examples of data sources include:

    • Pyth Network (a Solana-native oracle)

    • Switchboard (another Solana oracle network)

    • Aggregated data from major Solana DEXes (e.g., Serum, Raydium)

  • The outcome is determined automatically based on predefined conditions.

  • Resolution occurs precisely at the specified date and time.

  • In case of any discrepancies or technical issues with data feeds, there may be a short delay for manual verification.

World Event Markets

  • Resolution is determined by platform admins based on verified outcomes from reliable sources.

  • Sources may include official announcements, reputable news outlets, or recognised authorities relevant to the event.

  • May require a short period for confirmation and verification of results.

  • In cases of ambiguous outcomes, the admin team may consult community experts or extend the verification period.

Resolution Timeframe

  • Cryptocurrency markets: Usually resolved within minutes of the specified resolution time, barring any technical issues.

  • World event markets: Typically resolved within 24-48 hours of the event conclusion, depending on the complexity and clarity of the outcome.

Token Redemption Process

  • Holders of the winning token type can redeem their tokens for SOL from the liquidity pool

  • The redemption value is calculated based on the final pool size and the number of winning tokens

Handling of Losing Tokens

Losing tokens become worthless and cannot be redeemed for SOL. This binary outcome is what allows for potentially high returns on correct predictions. Losing tokens serve as a record of participation and will still contribute to earning MammothPoints.

Implications for Traders

  1. Timing: Be aware of the resolution date and any conditions that might trigger early resolution

  2. Partial redemption: Consider redeeming part of your winning tokens if you're unsure about the outcome

  3. MammothPoints: Remember that participation, win or lose, can earn you MammothPoints
